Panama Hatty's

If you love Mexican food then you are going to love this post.

Panama Hatty's has been one of my favourite restaurants for years now, so when the girls called me up for a catch up there was only one place to go. I brought Elliot along as he has never experienced how good the food here is before.

The first reason to love this place is the cocktails. They have always been a main reason to venture out so far and tonight we went hard on well, the hard stuff. 

The second reason being the food. For a starter we opted for nachos and cheesy garlic bread all shared between us.

For mains there was a mixture of meaty delights for the carnivores and a veggie option for me that didn't disappoint.

And both Sophie and I had fajitas, hers chicken, mine vegetable.


Ooo and for my favourite course Elliot, Sophie and myself went for the indulgent Melted Chocolate Fudge Cake and Rachel had the Cheesecake with summer berries.

Best thing of all, as a Natwest current account holder, they had sent me out a Tastecard as part of their advantages scheme. So as an avid eater outer, I was chuffed to discover that Panama Hatty's were indeed involved in the scheme with a 2 for 1 offer. So if you too have had a Tastecard sent out to you, then there's even more reason to get your hungry bum over to this Mexican haven... if the food pics above weren't enough to convince you. 

A little Victory Lunch

So the other day I had the ordeal of my driving theory test!

I passed!!! Thanks to some extreme cramming and having Elliot's hand to hold before I went in. (I also got some great tips from you guys on twitter too)

So afterwards, Elliot treated me to a gorgeous late lunch at The Fishpool Inn near Delamere in Cheshire. 

Filled with old, rustic decor. Antler covered chairs, mix'n'match paintings and lots of different woods and textures, this place is great for those family dinners or dates with great atmosphere. 

To start I opted for the Warm crottin of Delamere goat's cheese, which was delicious. While Elliot went for the Crispy Duck Fritter. 

For mains I had my usual (which I think I need to ditch), a Margarita pizza cooked in their Woodstone Ovens. Elliot had the Fishpool Inn Steak Burger, that actually made me jealous with all it's layers. If only it was veggie friendly. 

Finishing up with a shared Baked Banoffee Cheesecake with Honeycomb icecream.

I'm just so grateful Elliot was there to keep me sane before my test, to give me a big hug after and to treat me to such a lovely lunch after. 

Weekend Catch-Up

So as some of you might know, I have a very good reason for getting out of my house and traveling up to Newcastle as often as I can. And that is exactly what I did this weekend, I packed up my bag and jumped on the train to go see Elliot and the sights of Newcastle.

This weekend was a short one, so just one night out for me and Elliot, that however didn't deter me from sharing a Domino's feast at midnight. So good at any time of day.

So on the Saturday we went to what seems to be the only Mexican restaurant in Newcastle, Las Iguanas, where there is mood lighting and fitting music to get you in the mood for some spicy grub.

We started with Mexican Poppadoms with homemade salsa. So delicious.

For our mains, Elliot chose spicy chicken, peppers, onion and cheese Enchiladas whilst I went for a Chimichanga filled with roast butternut squash, spinach, cheese and chickpeas. For both of the dishes the main was placed on top of a bed of rice with a ring of re fried beans to compliment the meal. It was so tasty and so filling. Gorgeous.

After a few ill chosen cocktails we headed to Browns for a Pina Colada and Long Island Iced Tea which then lead to us returning to the Vineyard (where we had gone for Valentine's Day) for a Cosmopolitan and Duvel. To finish we headed to Florita's, where the cocktails were delicious. I went for a Twister containing my favourite, watermelon, and Elliot chose a Classic Mojito  

All in all another lovely night spent with my newly favourite person.
