My Google Visit in London

So this week I was lucky enough to be able to attend a Youtube blogger event hosted by Google in one of the best cities in the world, London. With Clare & Laura from work coming along too, we decided a road trip was best suited and all headed down to the big city in our little Hut mobile.

I think I love London, it's so different to where I'm from and it just has so much going on, one big reason being that for the entirety of my life I've only ever seen one vegetarian restaurant and here I saw 2 within 5 minutes. Dream city.

So once we had parked up, Laura & Clare led to way through the streets eventually getting to the main market square where so much was going on.

We had a browse around various shops including the Cambridge Satchel Company (swoon at the pretty bags)

We headed into a bar called Henry's for a quick drink to kill some time. I think I may have won in the drinking stakes as I had a champagne cocktail called a Lychee Sparkle. It was soooooo good.

But this visit wasn't just a whimsical visit into the city, no no no, we were here to work and hear some experts in the world of Youtube talent hosted by Google.

Firstly, Google's offices are by far the coolest offices I have ever seen. I had serious job envy, everything was so clean and the most exciting thing was the screens on the floor. Completely different to the offices I have to work in :(

We were ushered into a room that was so sleek and well decorated, filled with social and media talent from the likes of Feel Unique, Topshop, Liz Earle and Beauty Bay. After some canapes and wine, we all entered a room with a gorgeous white U shaped sofa. After our lovely host Rosie gave an introduction it was onto the speakers.

First up was Dom from Gleam Digital, a company that works with YouTube talent to help them grow and expand their audience. He spoke about the influence beauty YouTube have on the world and compared them to celebrities to really get across how influential the likes of Pixiwoo and Zoella can be.

Followed up by Andy from All3Media, a production company that works on many different platforms to create content for reality tv and dramas. He went on to distinguish the importance of having an online presence on YouTube was, discussing shows like Skins that were translated onto YouTube to give viewers the next step in digital experience.

And finally, Ruth Crilly from A Model Recommends stepped forward and shared with us how she interacts with her subscribers and fans. Not only is this woman stunning to look at, everything she said had definite insight into the social world. After all, she has made a big stamp on the world of fashion and beauty through her blog and YouTube channel and it's inspiring to see how big things really can get if you can relate with your audience.

After the talks, we all mingled some more until we decided to head over to The Diner across the road for some amazing food. American inspired food and decor made this place incredible from the moment we stepped foot in there. Having ordered our food, mine being the best fries ever with cheese on top and Laura's milkshake making me very jealous, we caught up on how we felt about the meeting and I can gladly say Google did a good job. We left feeling inspired and filled up on knowledge of how best to take on the world of video and YouTube.

So sad to say goodbye to London, it was short and sweet but I loved it. Can't wait to get myself down here again.
