Toni & Guy To The Rescue

When I visited the hairdresser at the start of March, there was a stern discussion about the maintenance and current condition of my hair. I'll be the first to admit that it's not great, and my routine is a reflection of that. I don't really protect my hair from heat whilst styling, which is a big no no.

So I was told to go and get myself a heat defense spray to use daily, ensuring that I don't get anymore snappy ends.

I've always had a soft spot for Toni & Guy, having used their products in my teens, so I parted with some cash and got myself their Heat Defense Spray. With a spray that doesn't over coat the hair or leave it damp before you style, which is another big no no with these sprays. Yeah you're using the spray, but allowing the spray to get your hair wet will merely make styling worse for your hair.

I spray in before I blow dry my hair, protecting it from the heat exposure from my hair dryer as well as just before I use my straighteners.

So I visited by hair dresser again at the start of May and she mentioned how good my hair was looking. I have to put this down to the Toni & Guy spray as it's the only thing I've changed from my routine. It was longer, thicker and above all, healthier. So I'd definitely recommend this spray to you.

Macadamia Healing Oil Spray

Macadamia Healing Oil Spray Review on Beka's Beauty. UK Beauty Blog

I'm really getting into my hair care at the moment now that I'm a fully fledged blonde. I've been adding protecting sprays and oils to my daily routine with this Healing Oil Spray being the latest addition. I've used Macadamia products before, with their no tangle brush being a much used part of my hair care routine, and I really love this one now. Usually with my hair oils I have to get my hands messy to get the goodness into my hair, but with this oil being in spray form, that mess in eliminated and I still get the benefits of hair oils before styling. It's such a light mist that your hair doesn't get that greasy look we all dread getting with hair oils, it's just so good. I'm really pleased with it and I'll be using this daily now.

I don't know about you, but for me, the rig-moral of washing and drying my hair every day is just plain boring. We all know that over washing your hair can be quite detrimental to the quality of your hair, so when I got sent this shower cap from Save The Blow Dry, I was thrilled.

It comes in a really gorgeous design and fits snuggly onto your head, ensuring no water touches your styled, dry hair.

Mermaid Hair

I've been umming and arring about changing my hair colour for a while now, I even turned to you #bbloggers on Twitter to get your verdict. So I did it, I got myself onto the world wide web, browsed through a few sites and picked the perfect shade for me.

I went for a colour called UV Turquoise from Hair Crazy and I just love how bright it is. I did however, cheat a little bit with this. I didn't actually dye my own hair.
Because I wear extensions and I wanted this to be a dip dye look, I only dyed my extensions; meaning I can be mermaid Beka and business Beka whenever I want!

Spa Find - Conditioning Scalp Mud Review*

Spa Find Review on Beka's Beauty. Beauty blogger, fashion blogger and lifestyle blogger from the North West UK.

I have heard of a lot of hair products but never a scalp mud. And that's why when Spa Find sent me their Conditioning Scalp Mud to try, I was more than intrigued.

The mask is creamy and thick with a rich floral scent that my hair loves!

After using this Scalp Mud for a few washes, I noticed that my hair was a lot shinier and softer. Not only that, the condition after I dried it was great too.

But I've got to say the biggest difference was how long my hair lasted without getting greasy from using the mud. Usually I'm a shower ever day kind of girl, but with this mud, I can go a few days without water touching my hair. Impressed indeed.

Maybe Brunettes Have More Fun

I got bored. And when I get bored I tend to want to change my hair colour.

After dithering between having it lighter and darker, I've opted for the latter and taken the plunge into a chocolate #6 brown shade that the lovely Laura did for me last Thursday.

Here it is, before and after

What do you think?

On Wednesdays We Wear Pink

I'm a nightmare with hair! I'm forever wanting to go from blonde to brunette and it's only my will power to get longer, healthier hair that's stopping me from making changes at the moment.

So to ease my hair colour craving, I've decided to try myself with the world of hair chalks!

I saw this Colorsmash collection whilst I was at work one day and haven't been able to stop thinking about it since. Torn between a gorgeous fuchsia pink and jade green, I opted for the Cosmopolitan pink channeling Beyonce from her Bootylicious days (as if I could ever look as good as Queen B, but here is my attempt)

Adding it to the ends of my extensions and rubbing through to get a faded out, dip dye feel.

The colour looks really strong in the pot but once you get it on your fingers and rub in, it looks divine. Just add a bit of hairspray to hold it and then you're ready to go. Giving me my fix of colour change I need in order not to get bored.

Best thing about this, it washes out. So if you then get bored of that colour, you can just wash it away. I'm definitely going to be looking into the Jade version of this now.

Lee Stafford Hair Growth Treatment

"If the earth's not nourished, you'll never grow beautiful flowers"

I've been looking forward to trying the Lee Stafford Hair Growth Treatment for a while now. As some of you might know, I don't have amazing hair and this is due to the fact that over the years I have severely neglected my hair.

So here's a bit of hair history for you - To start from the age of 17 to 19 I had white blonde hair... which took a lot of dying and left my hair really dry and damaged. This style eventually lead to my long hair becoming shorter and shorter. Not good.
I then went on to commit further hair sin by gluing in extensions. As a stupid 19 year old I just wanted long hair but gluing in extensions left my real hair in the worst condition ever! Knotted with glue and left with bald patches I can't stress this enough, don't glue in extensions. It's definitely not worth the grief you get throughout and after doing it. Stick to clips or use the Halo to prevent damage.
And last but not least, constant dying of my hair, after having been a blondie for many, many years I decided that I wanted a taste of the brunette lifestyle and opted for a rather gorgeous chocolate brown. I loved this colour for ages and because of my hair being blonde before, I was left with rather natural looking highlights that looked sunkissed and rather gorgeous. Then I went really dark, not intending to, but I was left with almost black hair. Rocking this look for a few months I then stripped and dyed my hair to it's current shade of dark blonde. After a few months of leaving my hair alone it's now in a good condition.

It's just not long enough.

So as well as occasionally wearing extensions to feed me my long hair fix I've decided that I need something to work on my hair to really work in some magic.

This is where the Lee Stafford Hair Growth Treatment comes into play. As a preliminary post I'll just say that I love the packaging and I want so hard to believe in the hype surrounding this hair miracle. After first use I notice my hair feels less tangled and the smell is divine.

I'll try this product out for a little while and let you know the results. But I'm excited to say that I hope this gives my short/medium hair a boost and that long locks are soon on their way for me.

March Glossybox

Well, it's March, I can't believe it. Feels like yesterday when we were bringing in the new year. But here we are, Glossybox number 3 of 2013 and it's a good one. Trust me.

So this month we're invited to 'Get City Chic' with GlossyBox, featuring 5 products as well as the 'My Little Traveling Book' which features 13 destinations around the world that they recommend you visit. Not only that, they even list the best shops, restaurants and tourist spots that are a must see. As well as some super cute stickers for you to put on your passport etc.

The products in this Glossybox are made to take you from the office to the bar in just 5 steps. I can see exactly what they mean, these products are handbag essentials and will definitely get you fresh for a drink after work.

1. Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Skin Protectant

This is a product I've been dying to try. I've only ever heard good things about Elizabeth Arden and this Eight Hour Skin Cream definitely lives up to that reputation. You don't need a lot of this when using it because the cream is quite dense, however once rubbed into my hands my skin feels soft and velvet. Made to be a hard working product you can use this on skin, for shaping brows, soothing dry hands and moisturising chapped lips as well as working on softening cuticles and nourishing nails. Miracle product.

2. Nails Inc St James

I Love Nails Inc. Always have, always will. So when I saw the little bottle of this postbox red nail polish I was so happy. I love red nail polish, it's so classic and I can't wait to put this colour on.

3. Juicy Couture, Couture La La

This is the fragrance to get you in the mood for a drink for sure. I've never smelt a Juicy Couture fragrance before and I really like this one. I'm always changing my perfume as I get older and this one would definitely be one to suit where I am right now. It's fresh and clean smelling using floral fragrances blended with woody and musky base notes that give it a long lasting result.

4. Tresemme Salon Finish Extra Hold Hairspray

This is amazing! I'm in such desperate need of a hairspray that doesn't leave my hair smelling like hairspray. Do you know what I mean? It doesn't leave you with that hard hair finish either, it lightly mists over and adds a soft but hard working hold to your hair, perfect for waves or curls. This is going to be put straight into my traveling make up bag for when I'm out and about.

5. Jelly Pong Pong Cosmetics Lip Blush

Saving the best until last, this is such  cute baby pink colour that very much suits the rest of the colours I go for on my lips. A slightly creamy texture, this lips stain promises to moisturise your lips with a blend of Beeswax and Ceresin wax that also provides a super smooth application.

If you haven't signed up to Glossybox already, then I highly recommend you do
